Starting on Monday, Sept. 14, schools in the McLain High School neighborhood will partner with the Tulsa Housing Authority and Ed Darby Foundation to launch weekly "office hours” at Apache Manor (2402 N Marion Ave.), Comanche Park (3608 N. Quaker Ave.), Mohawk Manor (2530 E. 37th St. N.), and Seminole Hills (1624 E. Virgin St.). Each week, school leaders and staff from McLain neighborhood schools will be on-site, using safe practices, to meet with parents and families, provide support with distance learning, and help parents connect with the resources they need to support students. The Ed Darby Foundation will provide in-kind support for this new parent engagement effort. McLain neighborhood schools include McLain High School, Monroe Demonstration Academy, Unity Learning Academy, and Anderson, Celia Clinton, Hawthorne, John Hope Franklin, Springdale, and Whitman elementary schools.

“This summer, our school teams have worked around-the-clock to build this new partnership,” said Monroe Demonstration Academy Interim Principal Rob Kaiser. “We are excited to offer extra support for our students who attend McLain neighborhood schools. I cannot express how grateful we are for the community collaboration to make this programming possible.”

Office Hours will take place on the following days and times:

• Monday: Comanche Park (3608 N. Quaker Ave.) from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
• Tuesday: Apache Manor (2402 N Marion Ave.) from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
• Wednesday: Mohawk Manor (2530 E. 37th St. N.) from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
• Thursday: Seminole Hills (1624 E. Virgin St.) from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

“Our hope is that through this partnership, we can support all students in the McLain neighborhood with the resources they need to be successful in college, careers, and life,” said Superintendent Deborah Gist. “We recognize the challenges that our students and families are facing and we are thrilled to work with community partners such as the Tulsa Housing Authority and Ed Darby Foundation to provide as much support as possible for Tulsa parents, families, and caregivers.”

McLain neighborhood schools include Anderson, Celia Clinton, Hawthorne, John Hope Franklin, Springdale, and Whitman elementary schools, Unity Learning Academy, Monroe Demonstration Academy, and McLain High School.
