Ana Jacob has been selected as the 2022-2023 Sequoyah Elementary Teacher of the Year!

One of her nominators said: "Mrs. Jacobs is an extremely kind and loving teacher to all students. She shows up each day with a smile and positive attitude. We are thankful she pours into her students each and every day at Sequoyah Elementary. She brings joy and a strong sense of character to the profession and is the gold standard of excellence in the classroom."

This is Ana's third year at Sequoyah where she teaches a dual language kindergarten class. She said she comes from a family of teachers and always loved playing teacher as a kid.

"After working almost 20 years as a teacher in my country, I have crossed the ocean to live the experience and adventure that comes with being a teacher in another country teaching Spanish and math," said Ana.

She said she loves helping her students learn to work together and excel in the dual language classroom.

"I love being part of a dual language program, and I would like to take this opportunity to highlight the importance of learning languages. I also want to brag my students and the effort that this entails for them. I am really proud of them."

Ana's team shared their excitement for her accomplishment earlier this year:
