Welcome to Sequoyah!

Sequoyah is a community working together to develop each child academically, socially, and emotionally to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment! Our mission is to inspire and prepare every student to love learning, achieve ambitious goals, and make positive contributions to our world.

A THRIVING DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM

We offer a one-way dual-language program to our native Spanish-speaking students. Our students go beyond learning another language and learn about other cultures. They learn to read in their dominant language first, then they spend equal amounts of time building literacy in English and Spanish. Students build fluency in both languages through their daily interactions with peers and teachers. Click here to learn more.

In addition to having bilingual staff, we work with Communities in Schools to help Spanish-speaking families feel connected and engaged in our school. Parents also have access to translation equipment at our assemblies to ensure they don't miss those special opportunities to celebrate their students' successes. 

School History

Our school, established in 1927, has a beautiful, newly planted landscape provided by our parents and volunteers. We continue a long, proud tradition of 90+ years of excellence at Sequoyah Elementary School! Upon entering the building you will be welcomed by friendly staff and students. You will find a dedicated, enthusiastic faculty providing quality learning experiences for all students every day without exception through a challenging curriculum that provides a variety of brain-friendly classroom activities. We are a neighborhood school and a pillar in our community. We are so proud to say that we've educated generations of families over the years.
